Johnson & Johnson Statement On DuBois Verdict

July 27, 2026 - Attributable to Erik Haas, Worldwide Vice President of Litigation, Johnson & Johnson:

“As with recent defense verdicts around the country, yet another jury has seen through the plaintiff lawyers’ farcical claims, which are refuted by decades of scientific research that show Johnson’s Baby Powder is safe, does not contain asbestos and does not cause cancer. In fact, even the plaintiff’s own asbestos testing expert couldn’t support what the plaintiff’s lawyer was trying to claim.

“The plaintiff’s lawyer sued multiple defendants in a scattershot attempt to find someone – anyone – to hold liable, regardless of the facts, the science, or the law. This is yet another example of the plaintiffs’ lawyers’ playbook: pushing junk science they conjured up onto juries in the hopes of a jackpot verdict to line their own pockets at the expense of all else, including their own clients.

“We have fought against so-called plaintiff ‘experts’ who have authored fraudulent medical articles asserting that talc causes cancer, and courts have agreed, disqualifying a leading plaintiff’s firm, Beasley Allen, for its unethical conduct. (More on these cases here, here and here.)

We appreciate the dedication of the jurors who carefully evaluated the evidence and rejected the plaintiffs’ unsupported claims.”
