Johnson & Johnson Statement on Doomey Verdict—Revised

April 21, 2025 – Statement attributable to Erik Haas, Worldwide Vice President of Litigation, Johnson & Johnson

“Like the vast majority of cases tried to date, and consistent with decades of scientific research, another jury has rejected the plaintiff’s lawyers’ baseless claims, reinforcing that Johnson’s Baby Powder is safe, does not contain asbestos and does not cause cancer.

It is a grave injustice that plaintiff’s lawyers continue to mislead people into thinking talc is dangerous and the cause of their disease when there is no credible evidence that it contains asbestos or causes disease. Instead, they are victimized by the business model of the plaintiff lawyers, who roll the dice in search of jackpot verdicts, fueled by litigation-funded junk science, without regard to the fact that most claimants recover nothing in the tort system.”
